Laura Scott, daughter of Dan and Diane Scott is the recipient of the $1000 Ted terHaar Memorial Business Scholarship.
A Jenison High School Student, Laura will be attending Grand Valley University studying hospitality and tourism management. While at Jenison High School, Laura participated in choir, dance, orchestra, student council and marching band. As a member of DECA, she has been an international qualifier and exceptional marketing and accounting student.
Below is an excerpt from nomination letter submitted by Jordan Whittecar, Business Teacher/DECA Advisor at Jenison High School.
“DECA is a prominent extracurricular activity for Laura. She has competed at the International Competition in the School Based Enterprise category, which involved working with or own Cat’s Corner retail store to create a promotional plan. With the vast business skills she has learned through this program and her experiences within our school based enterprises she will be very successful in whatever aspect of business she pursues.”
Laura will be recognized at the Chamber’s Community Awards Reception held on Thursday, April 26. The event is open to the public.
