On Tuesday, November 3 Georgetown Township residents will be asked to vote for Township Board positions.  Voters will vote on Four Trustee Positions.

My name is Katherine Henry.  I am running for Georgetown Township Trustee.

I have seen how wasteful our current board has been with our tax dollars, and how non-transparent they have been on these issues.  I am a firm believer that if you’re going to complain about something, you better be willing to do something to fix it.

I am a mediator, restorative justice practitioner, and attorney.  I am also a business owner, homeschooling mom and constitutional advocate.  As both an attorney and someone who has served in local public office before, I have taken the oath of office several times – and I take it seriously.  Art XI Sec 1 of our state constitution requires ALL public officials to swear to support the US and Michigan Constitutions.  That includes defending the principle that where government is not specifically given authority to act, it must not do so.  I have always been willing to explain the law and the constitution to people, but since the beginning of April, that has been my sole focus.  We need people at all levels of government who will fight for our rights, and ensure governmental transparency, accessibility and accountability.  

I have always been willing to explain the law and the constitution to people, but since the beginning of April, that has been my sole focus.  I have maintained an entire website (and facebook presence) devoted to explaining legal and constitutional implications to the people, and also restoring our freedom.  I maintain an FAQ section as well.  We need people at all levels of government who will fight for our rights, and ensure governmental transparency, accessibility and accountability.   

I will fight to preserve our constitutional rights and individual freedoms.  I will definitely change the wasteful spending, lack of governmental transparency, lack of governmental accessibility, and lack of governmental accountability.  Enough is enough – government officials work for us.

I am a Georgetown Twp resident, US Citizen, business owner, homeschooling mom, Georgetown Twp homeowner, Constitutional Attorney, and I’m not afraid to call a spade a spade.  It’s long past time to restore our government to one of the people, by the people and for the people.
