Speed Networking

We have found doing a few times a year is perfect.  Any more might be overkill.  We also partner with other chambers to guarantee they will make new contacts.

Venue –  We have found that using a restaurant before they are open is the best for noise and flow.  We have hosted in Applebee’s, Red Lobster and Texas Roadhouse.

Time of Day – Best time of day is first thing in the morning with no food. They move quickly so they will not want to be moving their food.

Cost: We always offer this event free, since the venue is offered free and their is no food…  Much easier for registration and it is a member benefit.  NO Non-Members allowed, no exceptions. Must be paid member in good standing.

Time: Optional Networking from 7:30 am – 8:00 am and then they need to be seated to start promptly.  They must arrive on time to participate.   8 am :850 am – We allow for 10 minutes at the end for follow-up.

How Long?  To maximize their contacts we have found that 3 minutes works great.  Each person gets  1 1/2 minutes..

We decide who sits and who moves and clarify in the booths so it is clear.  If I have a person that moves slower I always have them stay seated and not move.  If we have multiple categories we are strategic to ensure they don’t have to chat… Sometimes it is inevitable, but their is a trick to placement.

Seating  – As they arrive, I find a place for them (this is the trick)…Don’t just let them sit where ever they want.

Instructions to Members :  Good Morning, thank you for participating and as a reminder if you are on the right side of the booth you will be staying put. If you are on the left you will be moving after 3 minutes.  The person staying put will always start and we will ring bell and indicate when it is half way and the other person starts.   When the time is up, please move quickly.  The arrows indicated on table will direct you.  Certainly you will not be able to do business or connect with all of your contacts but the goal is to have 3 at the end of the morning that you should follow-up with a hand written note or email for another meeting.  This is really important and they like having the goal and knowing they don’t have to follow-up with everyone.    We usually end 10 minutes early so they can follow-up with those that they couldn’t meet with or get more info from someone they participated with.

Here is a bit of a description for invite.
