State your name, position, and why you are running.
I am Greg Todd. I am a candidate for Ottawa Prosecutor. I am running for office because I love Ottawa County—its beauty, its people, and its values. Unfortunately, the Prosecutor’s Office seems to have lost its way, straying from our county’s conservative principles and adopting a soft on-crime approach. This office has increasingly been used to promote progressive agendas and punish those who oppose them. It is time to return to the foundational principles of our country: liberty and justice for all. I believe in restoring the integrity of our justice system and ensuring it reflects the values of our community. By doing so, we can better serve and protect the residents of Ottawa County.
What expertise and strengths are you bringing to the board?
I bring to the office 17 years of experience as a litigation attorney. During this time, I have honed my legal expertise across various fields. This tenure has not only deepened my understanding of the law but has also equipped me with a wealth of courtroom experience and a mastery of the Michigan Rules of Evidence. From meticulous case preparation to adept witness examination and compelling oral advocacy, I have cultivated skills essential to being an effective prosecutor. Moreover, my background in the private sector uniquely positions me to bring fresh perspectives and innovative problem-solving approaches to the prosecutor’s office.
I have a strong track record of leadership and service within our community. I have been elected as a precinct delegate multiple times for the Republican Party and currently serve on the Ottawa County Republican Party Executive Committee. Additionally, I have been elected to the MIGOP 3rd Congressional District Executive Committee and the MIGOP State Committee. Within the state committee, I was appointed to the Policy Committee, where I was elected Vice Chair and Chair of the Rules Committee. Moreover, I have been appointed multiple times to the Crockery Township Board of Review. My extensive experience and dedication to our community demonstrate my commitment to bringing effective and principled leadership to Ottawa County.
Why should residents vote for you?
As a prosecutor, I aim to address the concerns of our community by:
- Reaffirming Law and Order: Returning to a firm stance on crime, where justice is served without political bias or favoritism.
- Limiting Government Overreach: Advocating for policies that respect individual freedoms and reduce unnecessary interventions, focusing on a fair and just application of the law.
- Restoring Integrity and Accountability: Ensuring transparency and community involvement in government decisions, particularly within the Prosecutor’s Office.
By focusing on these goals, we can realign our county government and justice system with the values and expectations of the people of Ottawa County.
