Abby Sawicki, 2019 Future Leader in the Making (13-17)

Abby Sawicki, daughter of Tanya and Chris, Sister to Jake was nominated by her proud Mom for her selfless behind the scenes fundraising for a friend and local children who are not as fortunate as she is.  We surprised Abby during her Choir class at Grandville High School where she is a sophomore.

Abby will be celebrated at the Chamber’s Community Awards Ceremony held on Thursday, April 25 from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm.  The event is free to attend and open to the public but registration is required.

My daughter Abby, By her own initiative, Collected pop cans to buy her friend with MS a AmTryk years ago. Her friend has now out grown that Bike and it’s time for a new one. Again Abby wants to make this happen. She again will be collection Pop cans to raise the money for the new Bike. She originally bought the first bike without her friend knowing and surprised her with it. She bought it from the Walker AMBUCS.

This is definitely not the first or last time that Abby has done something to raise money to help others.

She and friends took time to make Bracelets and sold them to the people I worked with. The money they raised went to help her teacher ( Mrs. Mann ) provide for under privileged kids.  Abby loves to help people and especially Kids  who are less fortunate. Kids with “disabilities”  hold the most special place in her heart. Abby has the most natural way of connecting with these kids. More recently she found out there is an opportunity to help kids with disabilities in her own school. She will be a part of the Links program.

This means Abby will get to be a close friend to some of the kids at Grandville who might need a little extra help.  Abby has the ability to see people for who they are on the inside. She has the biggest Heart and not only WANTS to make a difference for others……

But she DOES IT!!! When Abby found out that our church needed food for the helping hands program that provides meals to kids in surrounding schools that might not otherwise have enough food to get thru the weekend, Abby didn’t want to just take one list of items needed she wants to take all the lists and fill every need by collecting the food items from family and friends.  Abby definitely has an entrepreneurial spirit, not to make money for herself ,but to give it to others. She does not do it for recognition but for how it makes other people feel…. Loved!  ( and I think it makes her heart smile at the same time)

I could not be more proud that this girl calls me MOM  😊
