In the nomination submitted by Georgetown Township Trustee, John Schwalm he writes “Chad Tuttle is the perfect person to be chosen as the first recipient of the Dennis Van Dam Public Servant Award.” The award recognizes outstanding achievement in, and contributions to, public administration and public service serving the Grandville Jenison Communities.

Chad has served the community in a variety of areas.  Hudsonville Public School Board, 2017-Present| Georgetown Township Trustee, 2008-2016 | WCET Board, 2008-2016 (Georgetown Board Rep) | Ottawa County Workforce Development Board, 2005-2015 (Chaired 2012-2014) | Healthcare Association of Michigan, 2016-Present | LeadingAge of Michigan, 2011-2015 |  Grandville Jenison Chamber, and prior to that, Jenison Area Chamber of Commerce!

He lives in Georgetown Township with his wife Linsday, and 2 children Jack (9) and Jillian (7) and serves as President of Spectrum Health Continuing Care and Special Appointment Faculty, Cornerstone University.

“I have tremendous respect for Dennis and the service he provided to this community.  He always served with humility and grace, and was generous with his time and resources.  You always knew where you stood with him and he could challenge ideas in a way the built understanding and engendered trust rather than conflict.  This was a gift….and one that we were all fortunate to benefit from through Denny’s service.  He is greatly missed and I am incredibly humbled and honored to receive an award with his namesake.” stated Chad when learning about the award.

Chad will be recognized at the Chamber’s Community Awards Reception held on Thursday, April 27. The event is open to the public.

Dennis Van Dam, age 64 of Hudsonville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, December 6, 2016.  Denny was a warm and loving man who walked with Christ, who impacted those around him with the love of Jesus; he faithfully served his church and community.  In addition to serving as the District Director for State Senator Arlan Meekhof, Denny was a longtime Chamber Member and Government & Community Relations Committee Member and Ottawa County Commissioner. .
