On Friday, January 25 at the Grandville Jenison Chamber’s 10th Annual Meeting part of the celebration is installing a new 2019 Board of Directors .
To strengthen our relationship with our local schools and stay connected to the next generation, we are excited to add Junior Board Members . The partnership will assist the Chamber and the business community to the needs of the next generation and provide an outlet for leadership opportunities for our students.
Here is a brief bio for Elaina Lang, Jenison Public Schools .
What are they most excited to learn about the Chamber and serving as a Director .
I am more than ecstatic to have the opportunity to learn about the Chambers role in the sustainable growth of West Michigan, the different levels of Integrated networking that may take place, how the Chamber effects community positioning and business posting, as well as how contract management may play a role in decisions made and how effective these roles may play in our community.
Extracurricular activities and volunteer roles…
I am dedicated to my community in hopes to serve others. Most proudly I am the President of Jenison DECA, formally the Vice President of Public Relations, and an active competitor. I have had the opportunity to gain leadership skills through other programs as well, such as IChallengeYouth, FuturePREP’d, and Academy all through the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District. In addition to this I am Dual enrolled through Davenport University, currently taking Introduction to Business Law, Project Management, and Professional Ethics courses. In addition to my dual enrollment I am also enrolled with the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA).
My passion in life is humanitarian and volunteering. Throughout the last several years I have had the honor to volunteer locally (Michigan and Ohio) at Marmon Valley Farms, Local Soup Kitchens, as an Elementary Teacher Assistant, at Conines Country Market, through mission trips, and at church nurseries. While I have also taking the initiative to volunteer abroad through Rustic Pathways and Projects Abroad. In Costa Rica we created and operated engaging summer camp teaching Local Ticos Cultural Bonding. This previous summer I had the opportunity to help rejuvenate local schools in Kathmandu, teaching personnel health, preparing activities and nurturing children at an HIV/AIDS, and Manutrion Center. Throughout these 2 activities I have gained almost 200 hours in volunteer time.
