Family Network believes a stronger community happens when everyone has what it takes to thrive. That’s why we provide access to food, medical equipment, and more. Family Network is here for people in tough economic circumstances. The food pantry serves Wyoming, Grandville, and parts of Jenison, providing a shopping cart full of groceries for those in need during a once per month visit. The durable medical equipment (DME) lending program provides, at no cost, wheelchairs, shower chairs, walkers, and more, to those recovering from illness or injury, or facing declining mobility due to age or disability. This equipment can speed recovery or provide comfort to those who receive it. People from around West Michigan can visit the DME lending closet. Partnerships with local banks, employment agencies, and more help us provide other opportunities to make a difference for those we serve while working from a small annual budget.
We are seeking diverse and passionate community members to join the board of directors. Board members provide governance at Family Network and commit to engaging in discussion about the long-term strategic direction of the organization. The board meets monthly to oversee and direct business operations, set policies, approve business decisions, evaluate executive performance, and fulfill fiduciary responsibilities.
Professionals in the areas of legal, banking/accounting/finance, marketing and communications, information technology, healthcare/nutrition, event planning, and food retail or similar skill sets are strongly encouraged to contribute to the community through board service at Family Network.
Typical Time Commitment: 1-hour Monthly Meeting in the evening, and 3-4 hours outside of Meetings per Month completing assigned tasks, board retreat of up to 6 hours one time per year.
