In March, over 80 members of the Grandville Jenison Chamber and elected officials joined us to hear updates from Dan Hibma, of the Grand River Waterway Project.

Their mission is to Connect West Michigan to Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes.    To restore the integrity of the Grand River from the Fulton Street Bridge to the Bass River Tributary thereby providing safe shallow-draft navigation for recreational boating and fishing .

Mr. Hibma shared the results of a 2017 feasibility study and a 2018 Economic Benefits Study.

Members in attendance asked questions regarding environmental impact and the cost to cities and townships.

On March 6. 2019 PBS WGVU aired an interview with Mayor Steve Maas (Advisory Committee for Waterway Project) and Rick Baker, Grand Rapids Chamber CEO on the project.
