Who Are You:

GRMacGeek is Raimo Karhunen

I am a Canadian born transplant, now residing in Jenison. I moved to the Grand Rapids area in 1998 (from New York City), met a wonderful woman from Grand Haven, and married her in 2001. I am now a West Michigander for life! Website design happened originally as an accident. In my previous career, I worked closely with small businesses, helping them find ways to lower their costs when taking payments from customers. One thing that many business owners were constantly being overcharged for was their websites.

In 2009 a friend of mine was looking for a website for his growing business, and received many ridiculously high bids. So I offered to build him one for less than a third of the lowest bid. It turned out great, and that website turned into 6 referrals for websites, which created more referrals, and now 200+ websites later!

What Does Your Company Do?

GRMacGeek is best known for building websites of all shapes and sizes. I have personally built over 200 websites, including this one for the Grandville-Jenison Chamber of Commerce. I specialize in working with small businesses to create a better internet presence. Whether a business just needs a “1 page” brochure for their services, or a 100 page, highly detailed listing of all their products, I have done them all.

But the website is just a start, I also help businesses with their on-going social marketing and internet advertising. I help businesses manage their social channels like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. by helping create postings and engage with the customers and potential customers. This ongoing service is a great way to stay in front of your customers.

Why Did You Join The Chamber?

Before I formed GRMacGeek, I had been an active member in several West Michigan Chambers, including this one for years. The Grandville-Jenison Chamber is one of the best in West Michigan, and is currently the only one I am involved with. The chamber staff, the networking groups and events are great, and I highly encourage them to everybody!
