GRANDVILLE – American Legion Post No. 179 is planning the annual Grandville Memorial Day events on Monday, May 29.
The day will start with a ceremony at 9 a.m. at Wedgwood Park, 3391 Wilson Ave. The Memorial Day Parade will follow at 9:15 a.m. with the parade route from Wilson Avenue to Prairie Street to the Grandville Cemetery.
The events will conclude with a ceremony at the Civil War Monument at the cemetery, at 3570 Prairie St. SW.

JENISON/GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP
Sponsored by Kenowa AMBUCS, Memorial Day begins early in Georgetown Township with a 5K race at 8 a.m., followed by a parade that steps off at 9 a.m. at 20th Avenue and travels down Baldwin Street to Cottonwood Drive.

After the parade, at 11 a.m., there will be a memorial service at the township cemetery on 28th Avenue, between Rosewood and Port Sheldon streets. The MC will be Township Trustee John Schwalm, and Township Trustee Jim Wierenga will open with prayer and present closing remarks. James Kiel, a veteran retired from the Air Force, will be the speaker.
The Jenison High School Band will perform patriotic songs. Ceremonies honoring veterans will be staged by a Georgetown Township Fire Department honor guard, and Boy Scout Troop 354.
