GRANDVILLE JENISON CHAMBER MEMBER, RESIDENCE INN GRAND RAPIDS WEST HOTEL RECEIVES RESIDENCE INN COMMUNITY SERVICE HOTEL OF THE YEAR AWARD
Rosemont, Ill. – May 11, 2017 – Rosemont, Illinois-based First Hospitality Group, Inc. (FHG), a leading hotel management, acquisition and development company, announced today that its Residence Inn Grand Rapids West hotel has been awarded the Residence Inn Community Service Hotel of the Year award. FHG President & CEO Bob Habeeb made the announcement.
“Our Residence Inn Grand Rapids West hotel and its employees represent the true meaning of giving back with consistent community donations and support,” said Habeeb. “I am very proud of this team for all of their incredible achievements and contributions that have made a positive impact on the Grand Rapids community.”
In 2016, the Residence Inn Grand Rapids West hotel made a significant number of contributions to benefit children, health and research, soldiers and their community through partnering with programs and organizations. The team at the Residence Inn Grand Rapids had a partnership with the local Grand Rapids Foundation Kids Food basket, participated in the Transition program in partnership with Grandville schools, worked with the Hope Network for job placement, held fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness benefitting the local American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Peter M. Wege Guest House Grand Rapids, participated in the Light the Night event hosted by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Michigan and has also wrote nearly 300 cards to active duty service members and their families and contributed to Soldiers’ Angels. In addition to this award, General Manager Andrew White received FHG’s Civic Leadership at their Annual Conference due to community contributions in 2015 and 2016.
The Residence Inn Community Service Hotel of the Year award honors hotels that provide meaningful contribution to a charitable organization, use their available resources effectively, demonstrate teamwork and reinforce the hotel’s positive reputation within the local community.
The winner of the the award, 1 out of 685 hotels, is determined by a selection committee consisting of discipline experts, brand vice presidents, brand representatives, franchise vice presidents, and others. After reviewing the candidates, the committee discusses the top candidates and selects the winners based on a majority vote.
