Community & Business Excellence – Tanis Trucking
The Grandville Jenison Chamber is proud to announce that Tanis Trucking has been awarded the Chamber’s Community & Business Excellence award for their significant positive impact and community involvement to the Jenison Community. Family owned and operated, Dave Tanis established Tanis Trucking in 1976 when he was just 20 years old and forty years later has 25 employees and operates out of the same house and property his Grandfather owned.
In addition to donating storage trailers to Love Inc and the Jenison Street Dance, they have supported the Jenison Band Program for over 20 years. Owner, Dave Tanis uses his semi- tractor to haul the trailer to all the band competitions, to band camp and in the annual Jenison Memorial Day Parade. Over the years he has driven to 3 Fiesta Bowls in Phoenix, AZ…to yearly regional competitions in MI, OH or MO…to a year end trip to Nationals in Indianapolis, IN…along with several local competitions every year.
“It is not just his time, equipment and gas that he gives to the band. Dave is a lover of music. He still is a very accomplished saxophone player. He enjoys watching the band students improve and work together to produce a great show. Dave is the person I go to after every show to find out how they did…he understands music and what it is they are supposed to be doing. Also, for the last several years Dave shows up at the last outdoor practice in November to provide muffins and cider for all the kids. He is very appreciated by all of us…students and adults… who are involved with the Jenison Marching Band.” Stated Bill Waalkes, Jenison Marching Band Equipment Crew and School Board President.
Dave and his team will be recognized at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting held on Friday, January 20 at Sunnybrook Country Club, Grandville from 8 am – 9:30 am . The public is welcome to attend.
